2. Find your window code

3. Choose your roof blind (colour and fabric type)

4. Select the correct code from the drop-down menu

1. Identify Window Brand

2. Find Your Skylight Window Code

We often get asked, "How can I locate the code for my VELUX® window?" To find the code on any roof brand code follow these steps:

Locate the data plate on your roof window. This plate contains precise information about the window model.

The data plate is typically situated in the right corner of the top sash, positioned just behind the ventilation flap.

Other types of windows eg Roto windows have the data plate situated down the side of the window so you need to open the window to see the plate.

3. Select Type

Bedrooms typically call for blackout fabrics.  Our blackout fabrics are also thermal helping to keep you cool in the summer & warm in the winter.

Waterproof fabrics are great for bathrooms and rooms with high moisture eg conservatories

Do you want to go for a manual blind or is your blind high up and you would prefer an electric skylight blind?

Once you have considered all of these you can choose the type of blind that is best for you.

FAQ's about VELUX® Blinds

There is no best colour for skylight blinds as the backing on the fabric is what reflects the heat and light out of the room.  The colour on the face of the fabric bears no relation to that.  So you can choose your favourite colour without worrying about what impact it will have on the temperature and light in the room.

  1. Start by locating the data plate on your roof window. The data plate contains important details about the window model and is usually affixed to the frame or sash.
  2. For VELUX® windows, you can often find the data plate in the top right corner of the sash. It is positioned behind the ventilation flap. Look for a small metal plate or sticker with engraved or printed information.
  3. If you have a different brand of window, such as Roto or another manufacturer, the data plate location may vary. In some cases, it may be situated on the side of the window frame. Opening the window can give you a better view of the plate's position.
  4. Once you locate the data plate, examine it closely for the window code. The code is typically a combination of letters and numbers, unique to your specific window model. It may be labelled as "product code," "type code," or "identification code."

By following these steps and utilising the specific information provided by the manufacturer, you should be able to successfully locate the code for your VELUX® window or any other roof window brand. This code is crucial when seeking replacement parts, understanding the features of your window, or contacting customer support for assistance.

There are lots of alternatives to Velux windows including Keylite® windows, Fakro® windows and Dakstra® windows.  The good news is that we do blinds for all of these windows.

VELUX® uses codes to specify the different features and options for their windows. The first part of the code indicates the window operation and internal finish.

GGL stands for "Centre Pivot Pine" - This means the window has a centre pivot opening operation and the internal finish of the frame is pine wood.

GGU stands for "Centre Pivot Upvc"- This means the window also has a centre pivot opening but the internal finish of the frame is uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) rather than natural pine wood.
