Vertical Blind Louvres Won’t Rotate When You Pull the Control Chain
If your vertical blind slats (louvres) aren’t turning when you operate the chain, a few things could be causing the issue.
1. You have mounted the fabric incorrectly on the rail
- Possible cause: The louvres may have been put onto the headrail with the hooks facing forward.
- The Fix: You will have to take the fabric off the rail and then rotate the hooks so they are at a right angle, then put the fabric back onto the headrail. The headrail should work now
2. Uneven Pegs
- Possible cause: The pegs have been knocked inside the runners, possibly during transit
- The Fix: Using a pair of pliers, gently pull the pegs back out
3. Travellers Not Aligned And Not Rotating Properly
- Possible cause: Transit/misuse
- The Fix:
Pull the chain fully in one direction until it stops. You may hear a grinding sound — this is normal and indicates the mechanism is resetting.
Pull the chain fully in the opposite direction to align the travellers.
If any travellers remain out of position, gently rotate them with pliers until you hear a click as they slot into place.
